49. Two bottles of finest organic New Zealand Wine
1 bottle each, Sauvignon Blanc + Pinot Noir
(Combined value $NZ40 = approx. $US22)

donated by Lars Jensen of Richmond Plains Wines, Nelson, New Zealand (will be brought to the auction by Jacqui Knight).

Richmond Plains Sauvignon BlancRichmond Plains Pinot NoirThis vineyard was the producer of NZ's first certified organic Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir – varieties for which our country is world renowned. Richmond Plains has been growing and making organic wine since its inception in 1991 and is Certified Organic by BioGro New Zealand.
Lars Jensen, the owner, believes in making great wines by working with nature. By using organic methods and without the use of synthetic chemicals, he says that they can truly express the vineyard’s character or terroir in the wines.
According to Michael Cooper, who published the Wine Atlas of NZ, “Richmond Plains Sauvignon Blanc is consistently attractive, weighty, full flavoured, ripely herbaceous and zingy”…
Richmond Plains Sauvignon Blanc is made in a region where a combination of warm, sunny days and cool autumn nights help to create the intense varietal flavours for which this flagship New Zealand wine is recognised.
Nose: Fresh herbaceous characters with gooseberry and capsicum notes.
Palate: Bursting with delicious gooseberry, capsicum, green apple and limey/citrus flavours with a lovely background of mineral and nettle tones. Fresh, fruity and vibrant with good weight and length. A very versatile and popular wine that complements seafood superbly, many other differing food styles or is lovely as an aperitif.
Vegan: This wine is suitable for vegan diets.
Vintage: A hot, dry summer contributed to an early harvest with good quality fruit and excellent flavours. Fruit was picked in mid April.
Wine Making: All fruit was crushed and de-stemmed before being cool fermented to preserve the vibrant, fresh Sauvignon characters.
Alcohol: 13% Acidity: 6.1 g/L Residual sugar: 2.9 g/L
